Battlefield protocol

The Modern Battlefield Acupuncture Protocol, often referred to as Battlefield Acupuncture, was developed to provide rapid and effective pain relief for military personnel, particularly in combat or battlefield situations.

It was originally developed by Doctor Richard Niemtzow, a United States Air Force physician and acupuncturist. He drew upon his expertise in both Western Medicine and Acupuncture, to create a method of treatment that could be easily and quickly administered to soldiers in the field.

It was officially deployed by the U S Air Force, and later by other branches of the military. It was used to address musculoskeletal pain, headaches, and other combat-related injuries.

The success of Battlefield Acupuncture in military settings, led to its adoption by civilian medical practitioners, particularly those working in emergency and trauma situations, and dealing with chronic pain issues.
