Pre course information

It’s important to note that completion of all of the pre-course courses alone DOES NOT give you a Level 3 first aid qualification or entitle you to act as an Emergency First Aider. You must successfully complete the face to face Level 3 first aid award.

This is just a brief message to welcome you to the course and to say that I’m looking forward to working with you.

The full day course runs from 9.00  am to 5-00 pm, please arrive 15 minutes before to complete registration, for a 9.00 am prompt start. 

 
The split evening course runs for 6-00 pm – 9-30 pm on both evenings. please arrive 15 minutes before to complete registration.
 
My name is Paul Blacker and I will be the Course Leader. My job will be to support you to develop your first aid knowledge and understanding during the course.  
Completing the online modules below, will allow us to spend more time on the rugby specific injuries and practical skills, throughout the training. 

1·      Emergency First Aid in Rugby Union (CPD courses)

These modules are not intended to replace the First Aid course but once taken will support the skills you will learn.

Module 1 – primary survey, secondary survey, CPR, AED

PLEASE NOTE: these modules are  open access (no login to the GMS is required) and once completed they will not show up on the RFU GMS or their course finder.

 
2·      Headcase concussion module  (for first aiders) 

(approx. 40 minutes to complete)

3. An introduction to safeguarding 
(approx. 20 minutes to complete)  

 

Ensure you are logged on to GMS, go to the course finder search for and purchase the courses, they’re  free. 

Once you’ve completed the purchase you’ll be sent a link to your email to follow to take the courses. 

 
Once completed these courses will appear on your GMS account as completed learning. 

 

NOTE:  If you have already taken and completed this course a screen shot of your GMS page is all we need on the day. 

On the day please bring the following: 

* 1 form of photo identification 

 

This allows us to verify your identity e.g.: passport / driving license / Photo ID Card. I do not take copies. 

• Lunch and refreshments (full day course only) 

• A pen 

• Appropriate clothing and flat shoes
