In the meantime, she studied various subjects such as French, Linguistics and Fine Art, but didn\’t settle into any of these. The theories and world-view behind Chinese and Oriental culture that she learned from her studies of Tai Chi seemed so \’right\’ and familiar to her from the start. However, it took a long time for her to realise that she could develop this fascination with Chinese energetics into a satisfying career.
She studied acupuncture at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading. During her studies she was fortunate enough to work at the Dragon Acupuncture Project in Brighton. The Dragon was the UK’s first non-NHS funded multi-bed acupuncture clinic, and being involved in this pioneering and very successful clinic has fundamentally shaped her practice.
In 2007, she launched ACMAC (www.acmac.net), to gather information about multi-bed practice, list all the UK multi-bed clinics, and to offer support and encouragement to help new clinics get started.
Charlie is passionate about having as great a section of our community as possible be able to access high-quality treatment often enough, and for long enough, to get better and stay better. She feels it is a pleasure therefore to be working at the low-cost drop-in at The Acupuncture Clinic.
Charlie lives in Uckfield with her husband and young son, Ben. She love acupuncture, gardening, walking and watching the availability of affordable and accessible acupuncture grow.
